From 24 to 25 October was held the Second National Congress on Environmental Education, at the Centro Cultural El Refugio, Tlaquepaque. The objective of the conference was to seek an exchange of experiences among those working in the field of environmental education as a strategy of analysis to guide educational practice to rebuild a new environmental culture. Among the most important of the game excelled the need for a State Plan for Environmental Education to coordinate and guide the educational work of environmental protection in Jalisco. In addition, conference participants expressed their desire to promote environmental education programs aimed at farmers, workers and housewives, and not only children and students, who have been the most attended so far, as well as train teachers all levels to integrate the environmental dimension into their teaching practices, an area in which, despite the advances made in the last ten years, there are still many shortcomings. The conference attended school students belonging to the group "Xinaztl" (seed, in Nahuatl), who gave a workshop to organize conservation work in schools, as well as collaborating in the organization of the congress. Also the manualidades a group of children called "Meztli" (moon, in Nahuatl), who are the children's section of the organizing group "Environmental Educators Network Jalisco". Other workshops were carried out by researchers at the University of the South Coast, and the University Center for Biological and Agricultural Science, at the University of Guadalajara. Meanwhile, the legal representative of Environmental Education Consultants, Mr. Victor Godoy Velázquez, warned that after five years of negotiations has established the Environmental Educators Network Jalisco. The network has about 150 active members. Despite being a meeting to state, among the 170 attendees were environmental educators and officials of Hidalgo, Guerrero, Michoacan, Nayarit, Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosi and Guanajuato. Most of these entities came together to form the Network of Environmental Educators in the West, that its first activities is the "Regional Guide on Environmental Education for Sustainable Development", the first phase will be ready by the end of this year.

From his experience within the NHS, Dr Maria Refugio Tor res Vellum, University Center for Science and Engineering of the University of Guadalajara, was selected to participate in the first Australian symposium on Intestinal Flora and Human Health, held in Melbourne and Sydney. Vellum res Tor said in this symposium had the opportunity to attend as ambassador to Mexico, which was a good experience. That brought together researchers and professors emeriti recognized worldwide for its high productivity in the study of the effects of probiotics. Probiotics are preparations of live microorganisms that benefit the host by conferring properties similar to the gut flora. Among other aspects, were announced results of studies conducted in an open population and laboratory animal experiments and the manualidades

As areas of application of probiotics in humans, were mentioned: the resistance against pathogenic bacteria, stimulating the immune system, preventing or reducing constipation, diarrhea prevention, risk reduction in colon cancer and lowering cholesterol. In general population demonstrated the effectiveness of Lactobacillus in the treatment of peptic ulcer by the consumption of fermented milk products containing such bacteria. Yakult Central Institute for Microbiological Research, Tokyo, Japan, presented results in experimental animals which were given orally and parenterally a culture of the bacteria Lactobacillus casei Shirota, first used in 1930 and currently in production of milk fermented. The results presented by 12 researchers revealed that probiotic bacteria hold great promise for the clinical treatment of gastrointestinal tract functions best, becoming a defense mechanism for the host. In summary, we propose the use of probiotics as a preventive treatment remedy for various diseases, without harmful side effects and many more benefits for show, designed to preserve health.
